Crystal Clear Collective CIC combines the expertise and experience from leading change-makers in mining, geology, gemmology, sustainability, consumerism and corporate responsibility.
Jill Urwin.
Founder Jill Urwin, launched Crystal Clear Collective CIC out of necessity. After years of working as a jeweller and Creative Director at London’s leading crystal retailer She’s Lost Control , Jill knew she had a responsibility to both her customers and the mining communities at the bottom of the supply chains to bring the industry up to speed. At the beginning of Jill’s career she worked as a Fashion Buyer for 10 years and was mentored at the Centre for Sustainable Fashion, which led to her involvement in various sustainable development projects to eliminate murky supply chains. Jill applies her experience from the buying world, knowledge as a jeweller and extensive work in sustainability to the Crystal Clear mission.
Brian Cook.
Brian Cook, an early advocate of responsible sourcing in the jewellery trade, and Jill Urwin first made contact in late 2018. Jill had heard about Brian’s pioneering initiatives for artisanal small-scale miners in the Novo Horizonte mining region of Bahia, Brazil. From this point the partnership was formed, and the two began to put measures in place to turn Brian’s sustainable development initiatives into reality.
Brian studied Geology at Sonoma State University and after leaving university, he became a partner in an international grassroots exploration company based in Brazil prospecting precious metals, which quickly led to a personal interest in pegmatite exploration and mining. Brian is geologist at Brazil, Batalha “Paraiba” tourmaline mine from 1988 to present. An early advocate of responsible sourcing in the jewelry trade, in 1989 Nature’s Geometry Inc. established with his wife Kendra as a lapidary arts, jewelry design & manufacturing family operated business.
